- Determine the target audience.
- Determine primary use of website, from a browsers pov
- Determine the goals of the site from the business' perspective
- Determine supplemental uses- browsers pov
- Determine supplemental possible uses- business' pov
- Layout the flow ( From home page to call to action to response process (The process between user landing on site and achieving the goals set forth above.
- Begin mock-up/ design process. Submit said mock-ups. Get design approved. Move on to #7
- Start content writing/ graphic manipulation. Rough Copy. It's going to all be crap here, but it will get better.
- The main objective of #8 is to see just how much we can nag our client for approval. Get the clients OK on everything as it is done so we can all move on to step #9.
- Test, test, test, test. Internal testing, real world testing (time to call grandma- if she can use the site anyone can) target audience checks, complete meltdown as we fix, tweak, and fiddle.
- Submit site to client for Final Approval. (insert dramatic music here)
- Cash check
- Technical stuff only the geeks down in the basement understand. but if you really want to know what goes on in the basement
- Test, test, test, test. Are the emails going through to the right people, do the forms work, any links broke?
- Bi-weekly checks for common issues, maintain site according to contract, additional adjustments made per client request.
